After years of circulating rumours, including one about an A Little Life movie starring Rami Malek, fans of the novel are finally getting what they deserve – A Little Life stage adaptation has come to the UK.

The play had a limited four day run at the Richmond Theatre last week, before moving to The Harold Pinter theatre. Now, the theatre production starring James Norton as Jude, will visit the Savoy Theatre for five weeks only from Monday 3rd July this year.

Hanya Yanagihara’s critically acclaimed novel may just be one of the most devastating books we’ve ever read; just when you think it couldn’t possibly get any sadder, it manages to. However, that doesn’t make it any less of an incredible book. And with it becoming a bestseller, it’s clear lots of people agree, despite its length (a massive 814 pages) and difficult subject matter.

The book follows the lives of four best friends: Jude, Willem, JB and Malcolm as they navigate adulthood, but it also includes flashbacks throughout, mostly surrounding Jude’s childhood.

The characters in the book leave big boots to fill, but the stellar cast behind Ivo van Hove's adaptation have already done a brilliant job of portraying the roles; Norton comes fresh from the huge success of the third season on Happy Valley to play Jude, and is joined by Zach Wyatt as Malcolm, Omari Douglas as JB, and Luke Thompson as Willem.

A Little Life graced the stage of the Harold Pinter Theatre in London’s West End for a limited-time run of 12 weeks, and it was the show’s first English-language performance following a Dutch-language production's run in Edinburgh last August. This run began on Saturday 25th March and closed on Sunday 18th June, whereas the Savoy Theatre run will take place from Monday 3rd July until Saturday 5th August 2023.

The A Little Life play is a whopping three hours and 40 minutes long, but if you’ve read the book, you’ll know this run time is completely necessary as there’s a lot to pack in.

Tickets for this show have, unsurprisingly, been popular, with huge demand for the lowest priced tickets especially, which originally started at just £10. Tickets available now start from £25.

We should also mention A Little Life is for adults only as it deals with distressing themes, so bear this in mind before you book tickets.
